To All Malaysians…

They have set churches on fire, manhandled a pastor and vandalised a church, made threatening phone calls to churches, hacked into the Malaysian Judiciary website AND YET, nothing has been done so far. WHAT IS THE GOVERNMENT DOING?

By Truly Malaysian

Dear All,

I am writing this in hope that my message reaches the nation. As a fellow Malaysian, it is sad and disappointing to hear about what happened to the churches in Kuala Lumpur recently.

They have set churches on fire, manhandled a pastor and vandalised a church, made threatening phone calls to churches, hacked into the Malaysian Judiciary website AND YET, nothing has been done so far. WHAT IS THE GOVERNMENT DOING?

It is interesting that the Prime Minister made a statement on the 7th of January that the government cannot stop people from protesting in mosques, but he hopes that it will not spill over into something more serious. Now, it has already spilled to something even more serious than expected (or did certain groups actually know this was going to happen?). What will the Prime Minister do now? I am aware that he condemned the attacks and also mentioned that the government will take any action that is necessary. But isn’t it a trend in our country, to pass statements and comments without any action being taken against those involved? It has been almost 48 hours since the attacks and yet, no action is taken but more and more attacks are taking place. (I can clearly see how the government is reacting here.)

If I may ask Mr. Prime Minister, Why did he even pass such a statement on 7th of January? When the opposition planned rallies and protests, many were peaceful ones held in the stadium. But the police never gave them permit to do so and in fact, many were arrested and treated badly. Why would he then allow this now? Is it merely because the Muslims – Malays are the majority? If that is the case, we would like to assume that we have wrongly elected him as our Prime Minister.

Dear All,

We all know what will happen next. This issue will remain a temporary heated topic (yet again) among the nation for the next 2 months and subsequently will be put to rest without any action being taken. And the next issue comes and will share the same fate as others. What is happening here? Where is the country heading to?

It is amusing to see the IGP giving stern warning that anyone spreading rumours on the arson attacks will be subjected to the ISA. When will this ever stop? ISA is now being used as a ‘cheap weapon’ to shut the truth from being revealed. If I may, I would like to challenge Mr. IGP to first take stern action against those who are responsible for attacking churches, before using the ISA against those spreading ‘rumours’ around (or should I say, the TRUTH).

Dear All,

I am sure you will realise that despite such horror, the Christians have never retaliated or rebelled against the Muslims or the government.  And I give them full credit for that. However, we must remember that it is not fear that has prevented them from retaliating. It is indeed an act of patience and humanity in which they practice. What about these groups of people who attacked them now? Are they the superior ones now merely because of such draconian acts? I’m afraid not. In fact, they have portrayed themselves as shallow and disgusting humans who act like animals (and I believe many will agree with me).

Enough is enough. It is time that we as a nation realise that this is no longer a war between religions. This is indeed a war between humanity and brutality. Many have passed comments and made statements on what has happened. Nevertheless, it is time we realise that merely voicing out and passing statements will never work in our country. We as a nation should now stand up and fight against such draconian acts by these uncivilized people living amongst us. Enough is enough.

The Prime Minister introduced 1Malaysia to the nation. As a fellow Malaysian, I (and I believe many others) respected him for this. Would the same respect remain? It is now time for the Prime Minister himself to make his contribution towards the 1Malaysia system. Stop delaying the issue like many others. Ensure that action is taken against those involved in the attacks. Give us, as a nation, the assurance that such acts will never be repeated in the history of Malaysia ever again. Then, we shall respect him.

It is my deepest hope that this issue will be resolved, in a fair and just manner, soon.

Thank you
