Anwar fails in appeal for documents

(The Star) PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court has upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal to dismiss PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s appeal for the prosecution to provide key documents for him to prepare for his upcoming sodomy trial.

The Court of Appeal had refused Anwar access to key documents, saying he was fishing for evidence.

Among the documents sought are the chemist’s notes on DNA samples taken from Anwar and his accuser, his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan and the medical report from Pusrawi Hospital, which Saiful visited.

Also sought are closed-circuit television footage from the condominium in Damansara Heights here where the act was alleged to have taken place on June 26, 2008.

Anwar’s defence team had claimed that documents given by the prosecution earlier were insignificant.
