Salehuddin: Anwar invited me to take up post

(Free Malaysia Today) – Former PKR secretary-general Datuk Salehuddin Hashim described as “shallow” the allegations made by PKR vice-president Dr Syed Husin Ali and said that it is indicative of “the political thoughts now engulfing the PKR leadership”.

Salehuddin said he was sure that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was unaware of Syed Husin’s comments in the media about his reason for leaving PKR altogether.

He said after the 2008 general election, Anwar had invited him to serve as secretary-general full time and he had accepted with “many, many conditions”.

‘With much reluctance, I accepted it. Some of the conditions were that PKR must have a proper headquarters, adequate salaries for the staff and as I had already served four years as organising secretary using my own money for office expenses, I requested a RM100 a day allowance for incidentals like telephone, parking, mileage, and the occasional meals,” he said.
