Web attacks after Marina posting

Someone apparently blocked access to Friday’s posting Marina a victim of her dad’s legacy. Late on Friday night, an admin at Malaysia Today emailed to say he hadn’t been able to access it all afternoon and well into the evening when trying to link to the piece. I suggested he try using a proxy server, and it loaded only then. That indicates someone blocked the blog. Attempted censorship?

As it was almost a day since the posting had gone online, I suggested he link instead to the second part, Rantings turn Star from victim to villain which was about to go up; he did, kindly including a proxied link.

Another contact later said he had also had problems getting here on Friday, though it had cleared up by Saturday. On Saturday, Malaysia Today quoted the Airkosong blog as saying Free Malaysia Today had come under denial-of-service attacks. A contact at FMT later confirmed this had happened on Friday and Saturday, tailing off on Sunday.

What was going on? Mahathir? March 8? Both? The Star sandiwara? All of them? Your guess is as good as mine — and possibly more accurate, depending on what data you have.
