Six challenges for Karpal

(Malaysian Mirror) KUALA LUMPUR – Four independent members of parliament have challenged Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh to state his stand on six issues including the position of Islam in the country.

The four — Kulim MP Zulkifli Noordin, Zahrain Mohamed Hashim (Bayan Baru), Tan Tee Beng (Nibong Tebal) and Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri (Bagan Serai) — issued the challenge in response to Karpal Singh’s demand that they vacate their seats following their move to become independent MPs.

Firstly, said Zulkifli, who spoke on behalf of the other three MPs, Karpal Singh should answer the statement by Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong who demanded that he apologise for questioning the position of Anwar Ibrahim as Pakatan de facto leader.

“Now we want to tell Karpal Singh, before he starts challenging others, to state his stand on this issue,” he told a news conference at parliament lobby.

karpal singh 1Secondly, said Zulkifli, they want the DAP chairman to state his stand on the position of Islam.

“Is he still holding on to his previous stand that an Islamic state can only be implemented ‘over my dead body’? Is he now a living corpse unable to defend his own stand?” he said.
