The resignations, including that of its current chairman and permanent chariman, would take effect three weeks from now.

Ahmad Ismail was slapped with a three-year suspension in 2008 for making racist remarks during an election rally.

The local Umno warlord had caused an uproar when he labelled non-Malays as ‘pendatang’ (immigrants) who were not qualified to enjoy the same rights as the Malays during the Permatang Pauh by-election which was won by Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

His statement had drawn flak from both MCA and Gerakan, but Ahmad refused to back down.
