Najib opens first salvo against PKR

(Bernama) – Najib Tun Abdul Razak celebrated his first anniversary as prime minister by touring – and campagning – in Hulu Selangor.

When he arrived in the constituency, he wasted no time in attacking the opposition in the run-up to the April 25 by-election.

He said that people have lost their trust in PKR as evidenced in the number of top PKR members who have quit the party, such as Sallehuddin Hashim, Mohd Ezam Md Noor, Zulkifli Noordin, and Mohd Fairus Khairuddin.

Najib urged voters in Hulu Selangor, especially Felda settlers, to fully support Barisan Nasional come April 25.

The BN chairman and Umno president said their support was crucial for the BN government to regain the seat.

“If BN wins with the support of the people, it will give the government added impetus to bring about bigger changes,” said Najib when launching Yayasan Kelana Ehsan (YKE) at Felda Sungai Tengi near here today. He was flanked by Agriculture Minister Noh Omar and MIC deputy president G Palanivel.

Najib said the government was committed to fulfilling all the promises made and the federal government had never failed to safeguard the welfare of the people, especially those in Felda settlements.

“For Felda, we have given many incentives and there is more to come. So, come April 25, come out and give your full support for the betterment of the people and YKE,” he said.

Najib said no matter who the candidate was, the people should be focused, basically on the BN symbol.

“The BN symbol is the main factor… The BN is me as the Prime Minister and I will study the candidate before making a choice. This constituency belonged to us before and I want to ensure a bigger victory to send a clear message,” he said.

He added that Umno, MCA and MIC would work closely to ensure victory for BN. “Among Umno, MCA and MIC, we have an understanding because the end result should be a victory for BN.”
