Mei Fun quits


(Malaysian Mirror) KUALA LUMPUR – Chew Mei Fun kept her word and resigned as Wanita MCA chief. 

Former deputy Yu Chok Tow was named as her successor, while former vice-president Tan Ah Eng became the new deputy chief.

Chew will also submit her resignation as Senator and Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister to the president of the Dewan Negara and the Prime Minister’s office tomorrow.

Expected

Her decision to resign, announced at the party headquarters here today, was expected. Prior to the MCA elections on March 28, Chew had vowed to quit should Dr Chua Soi Lek become president.

Her resignation takes effect on April 29.

Chew has also resigned as the chief of Selangor Wanita MCA and the party’s crisis relief squad.

Chew clarified that she was only giving up party posts and not resigning from the party.
