Dr Pornthip is welcome to testify in Teoh’s inquest say Hisham, AG

(The Star) – Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Attorney General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said Monday that Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand was welcome to testify in Teoh Beng Hock’s inquest as there were no obstacles to stop her from doing so.

In fact, Hishammuddin guaranteed her safety.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported Monday that Selangor wanted Pornthip to testify in the inquest into the death of political aide which will resume on April 20.

“As far as I’m concerned we still want Dr Pornthip to come here and help in establishing the reason for Teoh’s death,” Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim told a news conference after the opening of the third term of the Selangor state assembly.

He said if Dr Pornthip could not make it here for any reason, she could testify via a live Internet webcast.

Teoh was found dead on July 16 last year on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam here after giving his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, located on the 14th floor of the same building.

Abdul Khalid was commenting on reports that Dr Pornthip was reluctant to give her testimony due to pressure from certain parties.
