House all set for Great Debate tomorrow

The current parliamentary sitting is expected to end with a bang tomorrow with the House set to debate the motion to censure Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim over his ‘1Malaysia-One Israel’ allegations.

As one BN insider puts it, “You can bring popcorn and Coke. It’s bound to be entertaining. I’m bringing in supporters from my constituency.”

“At 10am tomorrow, I will table the motion and KJ (Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin) will second that,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Aziz.

“There will be eight debaters. Four from BN and four from Pakatan.

azlan“The debaters from BN side will probably be Khairy, Abdul Rahman Dahlan (Umno-Kota Belud), Nur Jazlan Mohamad (Umno-Pulai) or Chua Tee Yong (MCA-Labis). I will speak last to wind up the debate.”

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Abdul Aziz said that the line-up for Pakatan debaters are expected to be Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak), Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur), Abdul Hadi Awang (PAS-Marang) or Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena).

“Anwar (PKR-Permatang Pauh) will speak last from their side,” said the minister.

Quizzed on whether Wangsa Maju parliamentarian Wee Choo Keong would be joining in the debate, Nazri said:

“No, he is not going to speak. We don’t want him to jump. We want him to stay inside (PKR) and cause a lot more problems for them,” he quipped.

Speculation has been that Wee may use Parliament to speak out against his own party thus engineering his own ‘respectable exit’ from the party by being booted out following disciplinary action rather than him having to announce his crossover to a rival party.
