Port Klang rep’s divorce case set for June 28

(Bernama) – The Klang Syariah Lower Court today fixed June 28 for hearing of a ‘fasakh’ (divorce) application by Ramizah Mazlan, wife of ‘independent’ Port Klang State Assemblyman Badrul Hisham Abdullah.

Syarie Judge Abdul Malik Soleh fixed the hearign date on the request of Ramizah’s counsel Ahmad Nazib Johari.

Nazib said Badrul’s defence filed in court on April 15 which he received on  April 19 did not address the divorce application filed by Ramizah,39.

As such, the plaintiff need not reply to Badrul, 50 and asked the court to set a date for hearing.

Malik then advised Badrul to appoint a counsel but the assemblyman chose to defend himself in court.

“I do not need a lawyer as this is a husband and wife case. It is too personal,” Badrul said.

Malik said although Badrul felt he was in the right, he might not be able to prove his case in court.

Badrul came alone while Ramizah who was not in court was represented by Nazib.

Badrul and Ramizah were married on July 31, 1993 and have five children.

He quit Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) on Oct 29 last year to become an independent state assemblyman supporting Barisan Nasional (BN).

Malik had On Feb 22 advised Badrul to appoint a counsel to fight the divorce application filed by Ramizah under Section 53 of Selangor Islamic Family Law Enactment 2003.
