The Tug of war; War of the thugs

A group is good when it’s leader is strong, and men under him are strong as well. But it will only be strong if they are united as one, following the leadership of one leader who is wise, thoughtful, and takes care of the necessary welfare of people under him. He has to be tough and determined against any mistakes or wrongdoing within the team, so as to make it clear to all his aim and goal.

Recent events see both political parties involved in a tug of war over the Hulu Selangor by-election. The participants on both ends of the rope are many, not by the tens, but in thousands. On top of that, during the competition, some participants from PR’s side let go of the rope and ran to the other side. In simpler terms – Jumped Ship.

It may look bleak for PR during the struggle, but bear in mind that PR participants are MOSTLY sharp and sturdy. (Note that the word “mostly” is used as we all know that there are some spies ready to betray the team at a call from the other side anytime). The diligence of the loyal PR members and the clarity of their aim and goal to serve the rakyat will  eventually win them support from all angles. The display of their leadership and management skills; their clean and clear characteristics and their performance as a “Wakil Rakyat” who would fight for the people of Hulu Selangor will eventually shine beyond Hulu Selangor, to the whole Selangor, and eventually the whole Malaysia.

Comparatively, playing dirty with tricks over the SPR, eligible voters, etc will only create more grudges among the people of Malaysia. You win One Hulu Selangor with dirty tricks, you’ll lose the confidence of One Malaysians. Don’t forget that people see what you do. As the Chinese say, for the sake of a tiny thing, you lose a bigger share.

Now, let’s look at the members of both teams. Do you also notice that people only jump ship whenever there is an important event? For example by-elections, revelations of Zionist link to PDRM, the One Malaysia = One Israel exposure, Pre-Perak Crisis. The defection only comes when there is an important thing to reveal, or an opportunity arises for BN to win over something.

And of all the defections, not a single one did not revolve around the claim that they are upset over PR’s leadership. Seemingly trying to suggest a SIMILAR feeling of rakyat towards the BN government. Call it directed psychological programming, or some people would say NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). A directed and induced path in the aim to change a person’s perception or reaction related to an event or experience. At the same time, the choreographing of such defections during high times could divert public attention from the real issue.

Well, let us look into their claims of being upset over the PR leadership. How they abandoned the party and jumped over just to get rewarded with positions and monies. For this, I would wish to congratulate PR while at the same time, feel sorry for BN. Let me explain why.

We know that most of those that jumped have something to do with business and expected PR to award to them some privileges over what they were doing. In other words, they were “warlords” of their area – People who may be nobody initially, but due to his/her participation in politics gained some influence in business, power etc. They began to think they are somebody, and eventually become self-proclaimed “warlords”. These are the people who would demand things from the leadership, and expect them to be fulfilled. But this is where the problem comes.

Now let’s take the example of a gang of thugs. A strong gang does not only need strong and influential men and great fighters. It also needs a great and wise leader – the mastermind of the group. And this man sometimes gives unexplained instructions where his people would carry out to make an event successful. Sometimes, only his right-hand men will understand him. But all in all, they all trust him, and understand him well enough. Call it mutual reliance, if you may. It’s the factor that holds the team together.

Likewise, in a military team, the commando has to have the same quality to command his team to complete a task. If the teammates think differently, a mission is bound to fail.

In PR, it seems that many people are leaving. It may look as if DSAI is losing his influence over his team mates. However, if you look properly, these are the people who think they are somebody and began to detach themselves from the team. Such people if left unattended will only jeopardize missions.

Comparatively, BN is taking them in one by one. Whoever left PR is seen to be joining forces with BN, either directly or indirectly. But what we can see is, it was caused by BN – UMNO. If not, why would Hee get her datukship? What has she done to deserve it? Instead, she participated in the havoc-making of Perak governance. She even humiliated the house with a pepper spray. Why is she given a datukship then? Does it mean that we would still be rewarded, and even appointed a datuk even if we do evil as long as it is done for BN against any opposing power?

Coming back to the point. BN is welcoming them. And from the outside, it may seem that the power of BN has increased. But look properly. These are self-proclaimed warlords who think they are somebody. And to keep them in, BN has to fulfill and satisfy their demands. This makes BN poorer in financial management. On top of that, it makes BN – UMNO weaker within themselves.

We don’t see such attributes in our PM. First, many of his decisions were made floating, without clear direction. He has many selfish and weak right-hand men who dodge issues more than solving them. Although he gathered many “warlords” to ally with him, they are standalone warlords who have their own ideas and goals. One example is the Penang chief of his team. He is staging his own show, against the direction of the PM. And what can the PM do? Keep his silence. So, he has many warlords who think they have much support. And he has to keep them happy, even if what they do are sometimes against his will, or make unreasonable demands. The bigger problem being, he is pulling in more of such warlords by defecting them from PR.

This will reduce further the already poor power that he has left. And to sustain it, lots of money has to flow out to them, making him and his people poorer day by day; and his power weaker as it goes. To balance that, he takes from the rakyat with increases in price, imposing tax, more and more corruption etc. Eventually the demands from all the warlords will be too much for him to handle. And our economy, as well as security in the country will collapse.

What can you expect from a leader that cannot even command his people? What can you expect from a team whose teammates don’t even listen to the team leader?

Comparatively, look at PR. They stood their ground against unreasonable demands from these warlords. And failing to have their greed fulfilled, they could do nothing else but leave.

In the olden times, you may say that BN has a good strategy by applying the adage “enemies of my enemy are my friends”. But in a democratic country where the decision comes from the common folks, your “friends” will become the enemy of the people with what they do. And thus you are making more enemies than friends. And your “friends” will lose their command of support the moment they jump ship. This is not a physical war where only soldiers fight and the common folks hide. Here, the common folks fight, and your lousy ministers dodge issues. The more you have of such people in your team, the more issues you have to dodge.

All in all, all these “Warlords” will eventually give you more problems in the long run with more and more unreasonable demands. If you refuse them, they jump again. If you fulfil their demands, you will suffer. It’s a lose-lose situation.

Thanks BN-UMNO for helping out in cleaning away the “warlords” from PR. We the rakyat don’t want them anyway.
