‘Seditious’ degree charge: MIC Youth warns RPK

(Free Malaysia Today) – MIC Youth has warned popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin not to make seditious claims without checking the facts. This was in response to Raja Petra’s claim, published on the Malaysia Today website, that Barisan Nasional candidate P Kamalanathan’s degree could have been forged.

“This is a false claim, and the issue was raised with the intention to soil the reputation of the BN candidate for the Hulu Selangor by-election,” said MIC Youth chief T Mohan in a statement.

Earlier, Mohan held a joint press conference with Olympia College’s academic director Chan Chee Seng, who confirmed that Kamalanathan had done a twinning programme with the institution.

Chan said Kamalanathan, 44, was a student with Olympia between 2003 and 2004 and successfully completed his course to obtain a bachelors degree in mass communication.

He said the candidate’s name is listed in the Edith Cowan University (ECU) alumni, and to verify this on the varsity’s search engine, his name must be typed as “P.Kamalanathan /P.Panchanathan”.

In view of this, Mohan said there is no reason to raise this issue again.
