BN wins Hulu Selangor

(Malaysiakini) – BN has won big in Malay-majority areas, especially the Felda settlements. While PKR has won the Chinese-majority areas, its margin of victory in these areas is not big enough to compensate its loss in the Malay-majority areas. In addition, it appears that Indian voters have mostly returned to BN’s folds.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is enroute to the official tallying centre here and Barisan Nasional sources claim that it is an indication of a  resounding victory for the ruling coalition.

BN sources are claiming that their candidate P Kamalanathan will win the Hulu Selangor by-election by more than 2,000 votes.

In the early stages of the count, PKR was ahead by nearly 2,000 votes but this changed when the ballots from the Malay-majority areas were counted.

(The Malaysian Insider) – Barisan Nasional (BN) has won the Hulu Selangor by-election by more than 2,500 votes, according to unofficial results from the counting centre.

The Election Commission (EC) has not declared a winner yet but BN sources say their candidate — P Kamalanathan — has defeated Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

(The Star) – The unofficial result has P. Kamalanathan of Barisan Nasional winning the Hulu Selangor by-election, defeating PKR’s Datuk Zaid Ibrahim by more than 2,500 votes.
