Time for PSM to stand in Pakatan’s Gap!

As we see the direction of Pakatan Rakyat, we have a Giant that resides within Pakatan without knowing it’s strength. This Giant is Parti Socialis Malaysia.

They have been given the mandate by PKR in a few seats as they could not be registered in the last ten years. Using PKR’s ticket, they have won handsomely and have tremendous grassroot support which have been built over the years.

In the past, a party like PSM could be brushed aside for similiarities to PRM (Parti Rakyat Malaysia before merging with PKN – Parti Keadilan Nasional – and becoming PKR – Parti Keadilan Rakyat). But in reality, PSM has been putting hardcore hard work in many places as well as the heartlands of Malaysia.

Even many PSM activists (which is what they are) have met face to face with MIC in many estates and villages which have people who are downtrodden. They are never linked to a race but rather to the situation which they are handling. PSM works in the Indian Heartland and estates because they are people who need their help. Nevertheless, they are also working hand in hand with JERIT (Jaringan Rakyat Tertindas) and National Issues like GST as well as in different parts of Malaysia helping in issues such as Birth Certificates and ICs.

It’s a known fact Dr. Michael Jeyakumar spent years of his time in Sg. Siput helping the poor and needy by setting up his own action centre which cost him lots of pain and personal involvement. All the works of these activists who do not crave for name or fame came to fruitation in March 2008 when he sank the unsinkable Samy Vellu. Indeed he is a Giant Killer; but it was not a fluke. It was hard work and years of effort to create the effect which was accelarated by the perfect storm of March 8th.

Now PSM has to play a bigger role in our country. Socialism has a heart for the poor, they may not see eye to eye with the other Pakatan parties but when you reach to the people, the people will feel your heart. Let PSM be Pakatan’s heart. DAP, PKR and PAS are already doing a great job and now SNAP has joined in and I’m predicting SAPP becoming part of this pact as well. We can see a great future for the National Goverment of Malaysia coming from Pakatan Rakyat.

Arutchelvan, Dr. Nasir, Dr. Jeya and Saras are backed by hundreds of volunteers and thousands of grassroot workers. PSM has this advantage. In fact, during 2008 March election, PSM came out with a Tamil audio CD which was avalaible in all Indian homes singing songs to fight oppression and about the struggle for justice. This was an amazing feat as they knew how to get information to the right people. As we have Pakatan who wants a colourless struggle, will PSM stand in the gap to empower Pakatan and be part of it’s success?
