The irrelevant father!

  1. The Malaysian Insider today published a story on how Tuanku Al-Sultan Ismail Petra ibni Almarhum Al-Sultan Yahya Petra, the present(? The past) Sultan of Kelantan could not go for his medical check up as a chartered jet that is supposed to take him to Singapore was not allowed to land in Kota Bharu Airport. According to the news report, the current Kelantan palace saga is related to the rival princes seeking control of the state since HRH fell ill last year.

  2. I was trying to search for documents in the public domain on laws governing Kelantan Royal succession but have not been successful so far. At the moment as an outsider, I am not sure who the legal Sultan is currently. Is it one of his son or the sick father? My understanding is that if the father is still alive and is able to think then he should be the legitimate Sultan. No one else should give orders and the subordinate must listen to the right Sultan.

  3. I am not really a fan of any Monarchy System whether it is in the UK, Europe, Middle East or South East Asia but since it is a system that is already in place and enshrined in the laws, I guess, we have to accept it as it is without question. Well I am not questioning about the system but merely questioning “the conduct of children against their father”.

  4. I had always believe that the Malays has a very strong family values where the young takes care of the old. It is especially so in Kelantan. I know so many people from Kelantan that has strong feelings about the need to take care of their parents. What is happening in Kelantan is totally a shock to me. What happen to the values? Has it been thrown into the drain because of power and position?

  5. Prior to 1695, there was no Royalty in Kelantan. I am not sure what the system was then but I suppose there must be people and some kind of system back then. Today in many parts of the world there are plenty of government that has no monarchy and it seems to be going fine. Looking at what is happening in Kelantan, I find a bunch of ungrateful kids trying to outdo each other for the throne. Maybe the ill Sultan need to something to teach their children some values.
