The Federal Government will not intervene in the Kelantan palace crisis because it is strictly a state and family matter, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

Najib said the best way for the problem to be resolved was through consultation and negotiations among the parties involved.

“We hope the health of Kelantan’s Sultan Ismail Petra Sultan Yahya Petra will be given utmost priority in finding a proper solution,” he said to reporters after opening the branch meetings of the Pekan Umno division at the party’s building here yesterday.

Najib, who is also Pekan MP, was asked to comment on the crisis involving the Kelantan royal family. He expressed hope that the crisis would not prolong further.

On the shooting of 14-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah, Najib blamed certain quarters for politicising the matter and taking advantage of the situation.

“The Cabinet has called for fair, prompt and transparent investigations of the case and we should wait for the outcome.

“I believe the police and the Attorney-General chambers will make a decision soon based on the facts of the case,” he said.

Najib said the Government wanted the truth to be revealed and justice for the police and the boy’s family.
