You want quota? Lets talk quota!

The royals started the country. All others played “supportive roles” to build it up until what it is today. So stop blaming everyone, stop claiming credit, and stop asking for more than what you deserve.

The government keeps talking about Bumi rights, about their powers and their ownership of the country, with NGOs seemingly fighting for it in an aggressive and extreme manner. Well, lets have it their way.

They claim that the Malays make up 60 percent of the population, the Chinese 26% and Indian 8%. And thus the Malays should enjoy 60% worth of privileges. In that case, shouldn’t the Malays be paying 60% of tax money? Since they make up a bigger percentage and require 60% worth of privileges?

So, if tax is rated at 28% of salary as the maximum tax charge, shouldn’t the Malays then be charged at full rate while the Chinese be charged 13% (about 26%) and the Indian 3.8%? Only then will the equation be balanced as the Malays make up more numbers in the population, thus they should be contributing more to balance up the expenses and privileges spent on them.

The Malays are already enjoying a 5 – 7% discount at purchasing properties. Well, to be fair, then shouldn’t the Chinese enjoy 1% and the Indian 0.33% discount too?

How about grading in examination? Would the Malays require also 60% more leniency while the Chinese 26% and the Indian 8%? How about subsidies, business opportunities, etc? Would the Chinese then be enjoying 34% lesser of everything while the Indian 52% lesser as compared to the “Bumiputeras”? (Although it is not hard-written, I guess it is obvious we are experiencing this in some ways to a certain extend.)

Since they want to quota it based on population, I guess we could rule out the native bumis of Malaysia – the Orang Asli, Kadazan, Bidayuh etc. However, shouldn’t they be classified as “Malays” too? If they want to put it in such a specific manner, shouldn’t we also classify Malays as Malay-Chinese, Malay-Indian, Malay-British, etc etc, while the Chinese are to be Chinese-Indian, Chinese-British, Chinese-Hokkian, Chinese-Hakka etc?

If they want to generalize their Malay race, then what difference do the Orang Asli make compared to the Malays? What difference does a Chinese-Indian make compared to an Indian-Chinese? And Malay-Chinese, to Chinese-Malay?

What happens if the Chinese population increases to more than 26%? Say, 30%? Would the Malays then reduce their 60% to  56% or lesser? As far as I know, their demands have only increased, not decreased.

Up to today, we have a common belief that the Chinese contributes the majority of tax money. With the 26% trying to feed the total population, how is the equation ever going to balance up?

Ok, I have been too general in my ideas as not all the 26% Chinese pay taxes, and not all of the 60% Malays and 8% Indians don’t pay. But the idea isn’t about the figures here. The idea is about balancing and sustaining an organization. If you want more, you need to work more. Even in an organization. If your department has more staff, you have to generate enough revenue to cover your expenses else it will need to be scaled down. You can’t expect the organization to transfer resources to your non-performing department just because you have more staff to feed.

So if you want quota because you have more people, then work out the equation. Have them contribute more, not marginalize others by using your numbers to squeeze more out of the non-Malays. In the end, they still get nothing but you wallop everything.

If 1Malaysia is the idea you have so eagerly promoted, end all unfair quotas. Let all Malaysians work together as ONE NATION. Furthermore, it was the royals who built this country centuries ago. It was not the Malays, Indians, or Chinese. It has nothing to do with race at all. We want to thank someone, we thank the ancestors of the royals. If the Malays want to claim contribution, well, didn’t the Chinese, Indians, British or whatever merchants also contribute by participating in trading in this land? Didn’t the so-called “pendatangs” who resided in this land helped it prosper?

The royals started the country. All others played “supportive roles” to build it up until what it is today. So stop blaming everyone, stop claiming credit, and stop asking for more than what you deserve. We should return to our “supportive roles” for the country, and leave the sovereignty back to the royals, the constitution; respect the independence of the judiciary and respect the responsibility given to us as a people-elected representative.
