‘Melayu Bangkit’ Programme To Be Held On June 14
(Bernama) — The “Melayu Bangkit” programme organised by the People’s Awakening Movement (Gertak) which was postponed for security reasons will be held on June 14.
Gertak chairman Razali Idris said the agenda remained the same, to discuss issues affecting the Malays like the New Economic Policy (NEP), Vision 2020 and unity efforts.
“Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will deliver the keynote address at Negeri Stadium to be attended by over 20,000 people including those form outside Terengganu,” he told reporters here on Sunday.
Razali hopes that the strained ties between the Malays due to politics could be improved for the country’s stability.
He said there was some misunderstanding over the word Gertak which in Terengganu dialect means bridge.
Non-Malays too could join the programme but they had to send a letter to the organiser.
Application for the rally permit would be sent in tomorrow.
