Actions speak louder than words, MCA, Mr PM

Who now will answer to Malaysians for PKFZ? Ever since Najib took the investigation out of the hands of Ong Tee Keat, the previous Transport Minister and fallen MCA president, and handed it to the government’s Chief Secretary, there has been total silence. Awful, deafening silence.

Monday was a another day of harsh reality for Malaysians who had hoped for greater transparency when their Parliament reconvened.

The first to shatter their rose-tinted expectations was newly-appointed Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha, who in his first official presser flatly rejected further probes into the RM12.5 billion PKFZ financial debacle. Worse still, he refused to commit to bringing the wrong-doers to justice!

Then Prime Minister Najib Razak was seen making an undignified scramble for the bandwagon lambasting the Israeli attack of a Gaza-bound aid convoy.

No matter it was obvious to many that he was trying steal the limelight from the Pakatan, who managed to rally more than 20,000 Muslims to march from Kampung Baru Mosque to the U.S. embassy last Friday – by hook or by crook, as a matter of political gamesmanship, he just had to pasang their kaki  (break their stride)!

But wouldn’t it have been more effective if Najib had simply and with sincerity told Malaysians that he would immediately terminate his contract with pet public relations firm APCO?

After all, if he can publicly denounce the Israeli aggression, why does he still want to have anything to do APCO, whose top managers have links to Zionist leaders and the Israeli secret service?

If he can ask the nations of world to censure and refer Israel to the International Criminal Court, why does he still depend on APCO’s advice on strategic issues that will only prolong exposing Malaysia’s national security to risk of espionage by potentially enemy forces?

If the PM of Malaysia can demand that the world institutes a full and independent investigation on the Israeli attack and “not merely an impartial investigation”, then why doesn’t he stand up in his own Parliament and assure that his government and his new Transport Minister will hound to the end the culprits who have mismanaged and misappropriated the billions of ringgit from the taxpayers in his own country?

Who now will answer to Malaysians for PKFZ? Ever since Najib took the investigation out of the hands of Ong Tee Keat, the previous Transport Minister and fallen MCA president, and handed it to the government’s Chief Secretary, there has been total silence. Awful, deafening silence.

Does anyone really know what is happening in PKFZ anymore or has everything come to a standstill? More than likely – after all, for decades, this has been the modus operandi of the government when it is confronted by ‘sensitive’ or ’embarrassing’ issues’.

So fellow Malaysians, at this halfway mark to the next general election, nothing has changed and or has much chance of changing.
