KUALA LUMPUR: The upcoming weekend retreat for PKR will be an heated affair as the top leadership, including Anwar Ibrahim, is expected to come under fire from disgruntled members.
Party sources told FMT that the retreat in Shah Alam, to prepare PKR for the next general election, will be the best avenue for members to voice out against what is perceived to be weak leadership.
Among the issues to be discussed is the lack of discipline and ways to counter the negative repercussions due to the string of defections.
“If they want to express their views, this is the time to do it. I will let them know how I feel,” a mid-level leader told FMT.
This view was shared by supreme council member Zaid Ibrahim, who in an interview with FMT, said PKR needs to buck up if its serious about wanting to conquer Putrajaya.
He pinpointed the lack of credible leaders and Anwar’s non-presidential role as the primary stumbling blocks.
“Zaid was right when he said PKR was lacking credible leaders. The current ones are weak and we really need to start doing things differently,” said another party official.
