KUALA LUMPUR: A second PKR MP has stepped forward to voice her stand on the alleged uprising against Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim.

Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar acknowledged that while Khalid’s personal plans may be well-intentioned, they are unfortunately not always in tandem with the thoughts of other party leaders.

“This is why he is perceived to be arrogant,” she said. “On the other hand, we have parliamentary and party leaders with very good ideas but which are not harnessed in a cohesive form. This is where the gap exists.”

Nurul’s statement followed reports that a group of MPs are allegedly hatching a plot to oust Khalid. The group is said to be linked to PKR vice-president Azmin Ali, who has since denied any knowledge or involvement in the plot.

According to reports, the group is unhappy with Khalid’s non-compliance of party rules, particularly after he appointed a political secretary without prior consultation with the party. Azmin resigned from the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) board in protest of the appointment which further fuelled the allegations of a “revolt”.

Nurul Izzah, however, had a different take on the issue. She identified the lack of a clear and proper party blueprint as the root of the problem.

In calling for a strategic and structured solution, she proposed that all parliamentary and party leaders be included in the political bureau.

“We need a strategic planning meeting to articulate a clear party development master plan for Selangor,” she urged. “And we should argue, debate and quarrel within that meeting until a clearly defined multi-point plan is produced. That plan should then be endorsed as Selangor’s blueprint for a model PKR state.”

“The menteri besar and state executive councillors will then be directed to implement the blueprint with the aim of reaching certain milestones within set time lines. Only then can they be recognised for performance or held accountable for non-performance.”

Personal belief

She pointed out that the absence of a clear and defined vision has prompted Khalid to act on his personal belief on what is benevolent which has sometimes worked against him.
