Wages Not Paid by the Government

When the wages of foreign workers at the Istana Negara project were not paid, it headlined newspapers! But when our own people are not paid by our own government, nothing is mentioned. Can we sue the government for withholding their money? I have written to our local newspapers but they are afraid to publish it.

Both my parents are government servants. They are teachers. They are supposed to have their pay increased every year in January. My father should be getting about RM95 a month and my mother about RM200 because she passed her PTK exam.

6 months have passed but the government still haven’t paid them! There are about 70 teachers at my mother’s school and about 30 teachers at my father’s school. Can you imagine how much money is involved if the whole of Malaysia is taken into consideration?

I hope you can highlight this problem they are facing as this is the same problem every year. No doubt the government will pay them, maybe next month or two months’ time. But without interest! Is it fair? You work but you don’t get paid in time and the worst is, no interest for the delay. So the government is keeping all the interest that should be going to the people who worked for it!
