MyKads for illegals: I have proof, says MP

KIULU: United Pasok Momogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) deputy president Wilfred Bumburing has evidence of illegal immigrants being granted citizenship. The Tuaran MP said he was compiling all the evidence as requested by Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and expected the ministry to take action.
In response to Bumburing’s query in Parliament recently, Hishammuddin said the National Registration Department (NRD) has never issued MyKads to illegal immigrants.
He then urged Bumburing to provide information to the department so that an investigation could be done.
“So we are preparing the report and we will submit it to the minister and we expect action to be taken because we have the evidence,” Bumburing said.
He was speaking after officiating at the launchin of a gravity water pipeline project at a students’ hostel at Kampung Pukak, about 20km from Tamparuli, here yesterday.
The project, sponsored by water concessionaire, Corporate Dynamics Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Sabah Development Bank, will benefit 25 young pupils from five far-flung villages who have to stay at the hostel to receive schooling.
Accompanying Bumburing was Corporate Dynamics chairman Marcus Mojigoh, who is also Putatan MP.
