Harrison Ngau held at Kuching airport
By Bruno Manser Fund
Harrison Ngau, the highly-respected lawyer and native rights advocate from Sarawak, has today been held by the police at Kuching airport and told he was “under the government’s watch list”.
According to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Harrison suspected the brief detention had a connection with recent protests against Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud’s visit to Oxford University. Harrison told FMT that police had been following him for some time and that he was not connected to these protests.
The Bruno Manser Fund protests against Harrison’s detention and asks the Sarawak authorities to stop harassing citizens who are using their civil rights.
