The RM150K arches came down in a RM70K demolition
What caught Lilian’s attention is how the arch toppled over the zinc fencing, extending beyond the perimeter. Isn’t the fencing supposed to be the safety zone and to keep curious onlookers out? How could the fallen arch extend more than five feet out of the zinc fence?

This is a short video of the aftermath of the demolition. The demolition began earlier than what was reported. When Lilian arrived at the scene, the arch had fallen to the ground.
An eyewitness who is an NGO member told Lilian that the whole process was very quick and took approximately 15 minutes only. She said the tractor ‘knocked’ on the tilted arch and it suddenly fell to the ground.

There were several police personnel around to take care of the crowd milling around the demolition zone. People told me if there had been one or two policemen near the fencing, they would have been crushed because the concrete slab came tumbling down in one quick fall and it went way beyond the zinc fencing. It makes us all wonder what sort of contractor who cannot even calculate the fall properly was hired for the job. The press photographers told me they were lucky they stood far enough away to capture the photos.
