KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 — Umno today asked its cyber friends to help uplift the image of the party which has come under increasing attack from various quarters, particularly the opposition.
Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said in the last five years, various accusations had been hurled at Umno to the point the party was seen as having no morals.
“Umno is depicted as a party that is only fit to be stepped on… I am saddened by this situation.
“We are not asking much… just to be recognised for what the party has done all this while, the good it has done for the people,” he said when breaking the Ramadan fast with Umno’s Facebook friends at the Putra World Trade Centre here.
Also present was Umno executive secretary Datuk Abd Rauf Yusof.
Tengku Adnan also told them that Umno welcomed feedback for the betterment of the party.
“Though Umno has been around for a long time, we are not perfect. If you have any suggestions that can help Umno to be better, feel free to let us know,” he said.
Some 500 guests attended the function.
Umno’s Facebook account, which was set up on January 8, now has 4,513 friends and 3,836 fans. — Bernama
