Ibrahim Ali calls Khairy ‘mentally ill’ over quit warning

Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali has laughed off a declaration made by Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin that he would leave Umno if the majority of its members supported the Malay rights group.

Ibrahim claimed that Khairy could not get over the fact that he was not given a deputy minister’s post in the Najib administration, and that the Umno Youth chief was using Perkasa as an “excuse” to vent his frustration.

“I find KJ’s (Khairy Jamaluddin) statement wanting to leave Umno if a majority of its members supported Perkasa very funny. What is KJ’s disease? (He is) mentally ill.

“Perhaps his frustration in not being selected as a deputy minister has reached its climax and he is now using Perkasa as an excuse,” Ibrahim (picture) told The Malaysian Insider via SMS.

The Pasir Mas MP claimed that a majority of Umno members would be “happy” if Khairy left the party, blaming Barisan Nasional’s (BN) dismal performance in the last general election to Khairy’s father-in-law, former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

“I think many Umno members will be happy if Khairy resigns or leaves Umno, because when his father-in-law was prime minister, the fourth-floor operation in the PM’s Department was one of the reasons why BN and Umno fared terribly in the last general election… poor guy, he used to be such a hot-head. Now when his father-in-law is no longer PM, he has lost his fangs and is now blabbering nonsense,” said the outspoken politician.

Perkasa claimed earlier today that more Umno Youth members were joining the rights group because they were disillusioned with Khairy’s leadership of the BN lynchpin’s pressure group which they said no longer championed Malay interests.

Perkasa Wira chief Arman Azha Abu Haniffah said many Umno Youth members were unhappy that Malay interests were no longer prioritised.
