Lim to Sabah BN leaders: I dare you to tell Najib his duty

(FMT) PENAMPANG: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders must dare to tell their boss, Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, to show real leadership and act in the interest of the people, DAP leader Lim Kit Siang said yesterday.

Pouring scorn on Najib’s visit to Sabah to celebrate Malaysia Day today, he said it is not enough for him to just come to Sabah to join them in the inaugural Malaysia Day celebrations.

“They have to demand from him real action to solve the various issues affecting Sabah,” he said.

He proposed that for a start, Sabah BN leaders should demand the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry to assess the success and failure of Sabah since the formation of Malaysia.

“Najib should not come empty-handed to Sabah for the first Malaysia Day celebrations but should address the problems of ‘Sabahans losing patience over the 20-Point Agreement’ as articulated by Upko Senator Maijol Mahap.”

Lim said this while speaking at the launch of the Pakatan Rakyat secretariat here last night.

Noting that Malaysia Day is being celebrated as a national public holiday for the first time in the nation’s history, he said the fact that it had taken 47 years for the government to officially recognise the anniversary of the birth of the federation is itself historical.
