PBS cries foul over Umno hegemony

KOTA BELUD: A local Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) veteran member from Kampung Pangi here, Dumit Banati, has questioned the rationale behind ‘putting in perpetuity’ Umno leaders as headman in predominantly Dusun villages with many PBS members.
“Recently, the long-serving ketua kampung (village head) of Kg Pangi who was an Umno member was replaced by yet another Umno member.
“There are many happenings like this but strangely enough, PBS leaders have kept quiet.
“Just where is the so-called power-sharing when only Umno men are considered for even ketua kampung post? And worse, sometimes even the Pengerusi JKKK of the same kampung is also from Umno,” he lamented.
Banati, a former soldier, said he was speaking up because PBS members at the grassroots level were now grumbling and complaining about the condition they have been in for years.
