BTN man lodges police report over article

KUALA LUMPUR: National Civics Bureau (BTN) assistant director Hamim Husin has lodged a police report against an online news portal and a reporter who allegedly wrote an article about topics discussed during a closed-door meeting.

The report was made at the Sentul police station here at 1.20pm, Monday.

On Sept 27, the portal’s article alleged that Hamin had made racist remarks during a closed-door event organised by Puteri Umno.

On Sept 29, BNT issued a statement denying that Hamin had made racist remarks at the meeting, according to its initial investigation.

The statement said the Puteri Umno event was a closed-door function and that the reporter from the news portal could have sneaked in without prior permission from the organising secretariat.

“Hamim, an assistant director of the Federal Territory branch of BTN, was a guest speaker at the event where he expressed personal views and did not make any official statement with the intention to insult anyone,” the statement said.
