Pirated version of Malaysiakini set up
By uppercaise
A clone site of Malaysiakini, calling itself Free Malaysiakini, has been set up with apparently pirated copies of Malaysiakini’s news and articles in English and Malay. Though it has an opinion page listed, clicking on the menu opens a static information page that says the module is not ready.
The site also mimics Malaysiakini’s web site design, except for a large Yahoo News sidebar on the right, and an altered Malaysiakini masthead.
The pirate Malaysiakini site has decided that Azmin Ali is No 3 in Keadilan’s pecking order, as deputy to party president Wan Azizah, thus pre-empting the party elections, which have yet to take place.
The is a Malay section, without a menu bar
It is not known who the operators of the site are. The site was apparently registered only in June this year. Registration details available online are only those of the foreign domain registrar. Other details were not immediately available.
There is only a news section available
