THE Permata Negara programme for gifted young children has received a RM111mil boost under the Budget.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the amount would go towards building the second phase of the Permata Pintar School Complex.

The Permata Pintar School Complex will be located on an 8ha land near Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, which will also manage the school.

The school is slated to open its door to gifted students in January, where they will have professors as mentors to help them progress according to their abilities and interests.

Najib said the allocation was also for the building of 32 Permata Children Centres and financing the operations of 52 completed centres. It is also to fund existing Permata Pintar, Seni, Insan and Remaja programmes.
