Young Gerakan leaders are publicity crazy, says Keng Yaik

(The Star) – Former Gerakan president Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik is at it again, this time calling certain young leaders in the party “publicity crazy and clueless”.

He said he did not know whether “to laugh or cry” when he read some of their remarks in the media.

“They are just trying to get publicity.

“Some of these guys are clueless,” he told reporters after attending the Wawasan Open University convocation ceremony here yesterday.

Dr Lim dropped a bombshell on Oct 4 when he lashed out at party president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon over what he termed as the latter’s weak leadership and inability to resolve problems, and subsequently quit the party as adviser.

However, he was later appointed by Koh as chairman of the Gerakan Life Members Council (LMC).

Dr Lim pledged to return the young members to the party’s original struggle.

“My role now is to steer the party back … it’s better than being a party adviser.

“The council is very special because it comprises founding and long-serving members.

“Its role is to ensure that the party does not stray from its original struggle,” he said.
