300 Malaysians
After reading your article and the comments written around, it’s not a surprise to see some rejected the core idea of it even before they know the details and the objectives of the movement, biasa la our people.

I’m not sure if this letter will be read by RPK but I hope so. I just felt that I should say this. I am not a good writer and you may find my English is broken here and there. Please pardon me.
I came into my office this morning, looked through my emails, browsed my usual web sites, nothing interesting, had my usual morning coffee, and went through your articles and finally wrote this piece of crap without doing my office work. :p
My name is Rahven and I’m from Penang. Currently I’m attached with Hewlett Packard Singapore and staying in Johor for the past 7 years. Every morning I don’t miss reading articles from your site. Although I’m not a subscriber to your site, I really enjoy reading them.
A couple of days ago I came across this article from your site: http://www.malaysia-today.net/mtcolumns/no-holds-barred/35494-the-malaysian-civil-liberties-movement-mclm
Seriously I don’t know what the hell MCLM is all about but I’m gonna wait and see as you’ve said, until this weekend. If it’s going to be the 3rd force, good, I welcome them with open arms. After reading your article and the comments written around, it’s not a surprise to see some rejected the core idea of it even before they know the details and the objectives of the movement, biasa la our people.
I suppose you have seen the movie ‘300’ released in 2006. The story is about 300 Spartan soldiers and their battle against a massive Persian army. I’m a movie lover and I always like to adopt the idea behind awesome movies like ‘300’ and learn from them.
The movie is about the 300-strong Spartan army led by young king-to-be Leonidas who went head to head with the mammoth Persian army led by Xerxes. Leonidas went against the council’s approval, elects to take 300 of his best soldiers as his “bodyguard” on a leisurely walk to the strategic battle-site and fought hard in the battle. All 300 of them died in the battle after showing the enemy the capability of the Spartan army. Later in the movie, praising Leonidas’ sacrifice, Dilios leads the assembled 10,000 Spartans commanding 30,000 Greeks into a fierce charge against the Persian army, igniting the Battle of Plataea.
This is what I wish to see. Pardon me, I don’t wish to see anyone dying anywhere, but to see the spirit of the movement shown. Even if it is 300 or a small group of people, the spirit to fight must be there. And that is what we need to plant in our Malaysian heart.
The spirit is still not there. The fire inside our people for a revolution is still not there. Without this I don’t see us advancing anywhere. Plant this and you’ll have your Spartan army. For those who are big-mouthed going around against any revolution movement to see a better Malaysia, I’d like to say “It’s either you contribute and work together or shut up!”
I will sincerely give all my support and contribution to MCLM if it is for a better future for Malaysia and the Malaysians.
Thank you and have a peaceful day.
