Friends of Pakatan Rakyat event (Nov 20, 2010)


Join us for an afternoon with two young politicians who were elected to State government in the last general elections in 2008. Nik Nazmi and Hannah Yeoh will share their political journeys to date.

Nik Nazmi

Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad is the Parti Keadilan Rakyat Communications Director and Selangor State Assemblyman for Seri Setia. Previously he was Private Secretary to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Political Secretary to Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

He read law at King’s College London and graduated in 2005. He was active in the United Kingdom Executive Council for Malaysian Students (UKEC), Projek Kalsom, National Union of Students (NUS) and Federation of Students Islamic Societies UK & Eire (FOSIS).

Nik Nazmi writes frequently in the Malaysian Insider, the Edge and Sinar Harian. His book, Moving Forward: Malays for the 21st Century was published by Marshall Cavendish in 2009.

Hannah Yeoh

Hannah Yeoh, 31, is a former lawyer who is now the State Assembly person for the urban seat of Subang Jaya, Selangor. In 2008, Hannah ran for elections under the Democratic Action Party(DAP) and won her seat by a 13,851 votes.

She can be seen  regularly meeting her constituent members and is a dedicated representative who has dealt with land conversion, environmental degradation and freedom of information issues.
