RM65mil to redo PM’s house; but no money for staff

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has chided Minister in the PM’s Department Nazri Abdul Aziz for dismissing calls to increase the cost-of-living allowance (Cola) for civil servants.

Nazri had told Parliament earlier this week that the country would face severe financial implications if it agreed to the Cola suggestion for civil servants.

Exasperated at Nazri’s dismissal, PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar retorted: “When Cuepacs asks for bonus, the excuse is that it will swallow RM3.1 billion. But the government is willing to allocate RM65 million to renovate the Prime Minister’s home!”

Mahfuz who is also Pokok Sena MP said the government is always giving excuses when it came to the people’s need but ‘is uncompromising’ where the Barisan Nasional leaders are concerned.

“I an upset at the government’s stand. When it comes to civil servants the government is always giving excuses saying that it will have a big impact on the country…,” he said.
