No sabotage of Opposition, says Tengku Adnan
(The Star) – Datuk Zaid Ibrahim is not a trojan horse of the Barisan Nasional, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
He said the coalition had never resorted to sabotaging the Opposition to gain mileage and denied that it would accept Zaid back into Umno.
The rakyat’s support for the Barisan stemmed from the hard work of its component parties in serving the people and the sensitivity shown to their needs and interests, he said.
Tengku Adnan added that the recent claims that Umno and Barisan had been behind efforts to sabotage PKR by using agents within the Opposition party were baseless and only meant to sway public attention from the actual problems within the party.
“We do not have anything to do with PKR falling apart and it is weakening because it lacks proper structure since it was made up of people who left Barisan because they were disappointed, vengeful and looking to achieve some personal goal.
“Stop blaming us, we have never used anyone including Zaid Ibrahim to destroy any party and we will never resort to such tactics,” he told reporters after attending the Putrajaya Kemas kindergarten and nursery convocation here Saturday.
He was responding to claims by PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and several other party leaders that Umno and Barisan were using “certain individuals” within the Opposition party to divide and weaken it.
