Najib Wants BN Leaders To Discard Four Unwanted Qualities

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak called on leaders of Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to discard four “ailments” which he said could turn the people against the coalition.

Najib, who is also the BN chairman, said they should get rid of delusion, amnesia, inertia and arrogance before the people’s love for the BN turned into hatred, hope turned into anger, and support turned into opposition.

He said all these “ailments”, in particular arrogance, would only cause anger in the people and make them dislike the BN.

“I realise there are four ailments which usually strike political parties in power for a long time. The fact is that parties which are too powerful seldom conduct an introspection of their weaknesses,” he said in a keynote address at the BN Convention 2010 at the San Choon Hall of Wisma MCA, here, Sunday.

In the address, themed “Mengukuh Barisan Mendahulu Rakyat” (Strengthening the Barisan, Priority for the People), the prime minister said delusion set in with the fantasy that the support from the people would prolong while amnesia caused one to lose sight of the original objective of one’s struggle.
