KUALA LUMPUR: Former Internal Security Act (ISA) detainees M. Manoharan and P. Uthayakumar have filed a RM200mil suit against the Government for unlawful arrest and detention under the act.

Manoharan and Uthayakumar, who are lawyers, filed the suit at the KL Civil Registry on Thursday.

They also named Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, former inspector-general of police Tan Seri Musa Hassan and the Taiping detention centre superintendent as defendants.

“We will try to serve the defendants a copy of the suit by today,” said Manoharan.

The suits filed by the Hindraf duo total RM100mil each.

Manoharan, Uthayakumar and K. Vasantha Kumar were released from ISA detention in May last year.
