Which is worse-Ignoring or Ignorance?

  1. Malaysiakini published the findings of a survey done UM Centre of Democracy and Election Studies
(Umcedel) in November 2010. According to the survey which was conducted in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, 52 percent of the 1124 respondents said that the internal conflict led to a loss of confidence in Anwar’s leadership, while 49 percent felt let down by the party.

Forty three (43) percent said that this would affect their decision whether or not to vote PKR in the next general election. It was also reported that the findings is a smear campaign against PKR and him whom he claims is unsuccessful. He also questions the timing of the report.

  2. The first thing that strikes my mind is the word timing. The election was recently concluded. The aim of the survey is gauge the perception of a segment of the community after the election fiasco. Isn’t the earliest time is the best time. Is Anwar suggesting that survey is to be done 6 months or 6 years from now? This is the problem with our politician.

  3. Maybe the study is not good enough for Anwar. Let me be frank about my own experience. Prior to the recent GE, I had always voted for balance of power. One vote goes to BN and the other goes to Opposition. Sometimes BN get my DUN vote and at other time they get the parliamentary vote. That change in Mac 2008 when PR got both of my votes. Not only mine but my whole family votes. It was the wind of change that everyone desired. They wanted a cleaner and more honest government. It is something that scientist term as “herd mentality”. Many people believe and want to believe that PR is different. I told my classmate Azman Wahid (the incumbent BA ADUN in 2008) that he needs to change or be prepared to be change. He did not listen and he was changed.

  4. In many ways, I supported and had a strong view about PR. I was prepared to take on anyone that says anything bad about anyone in PR. Not everyone in PR is bad. I believe the few people governing Penang and Selangor is doing their best under the circumstances of pressure and handicap. I could tolerate the shortcomings to a certain extent. I could even tolerate the non performing AA in helping the needy in Gombak and BA. Unfortunately when party polls are engineered in such a manner whatever balance of trust I had went down in a deep gutter.

  5. We are talking about a poll that is run by PKR members. It has got nothing to do with UMNO. There were no external saboteurs. It is the action of few party members that is bent in ensuring that key people attain the necessary position. The sad part is most of the PKR members are silent. The party top echelon literally spread mud at their own faces and yet they pretend as if everything is honky dory with a rosy smell.
