Sime Darby to file suits against individuals before year-end
By Bernama
KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Bhd expects to file civil actions before the end of this year against individuals with prima facie culpability in four-oss making projects.
In an announcement to Bursa Malaysia, Sime Darby said it will publish the claim to be read by interested parties in view of the wide public interest the matter has generated and consistent with its objective of being transparent.
The four projects are the Bulhanine and Maydan Mahzam project with Qatar Petroleum, the Maersk Oil Qatar project, the Bakun hydroelectric dam project and the vessels construction project known as the Marine Project.
Sime Darby has and will continue to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in these investigations.
To date, Sime Darby has voluntarily provided the authorities with all the reports on the findings from the investigations conducted by legal and financial experts appointed by the board, it said.
In this regard, Sime Darby has balanced its own policy of transparency and accountability against the interests of shareholders and regulations pertaining to such disclosures once the matter has been submitted to the regulatory authorities as contained in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
