MB Denies That He Was Told About Appointment of Khusrin

(Bernama) – Selangor Mentri Besar Selangor Tan Sri AbdulvKhalid Ibrahim denied today that he was told by former state secretary Datuk Ramli Mahmud and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan about the appointment of Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi.

He issued the denial through his political secretary Faekah Husin, who said that Mohd Sidek had submitted the list of candidates for the post of state secretary to the Sultan through Ramli without informing Abdul Khalid.

“The Mentri Besar asserts that he was sidelined in the submission of names to the palace before Dec 17 and this is clearly not in accordance with procedure,” she said in a statement.

“Similarly, the information from the Chief Secretary to the Government to Ramli was not forwarded to the Mentri Besar.”

Faekah said the Mentri Besar learned of the appointment when his private secretary received a letter from the Sultan’s private secretary, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, last Dec 21.

She said that Mohamed Munir had attached a copy of a letter dated Dec 10 2010 sent to Ramli on the appointment of Khusrin as state secretary.

Between Dec 10 and 21,  Ramli attended two State Executive Council meetings, two State Economic Action Council meetings and a function to bid him farewell, Faekah said.

She said that Ramli made no mention of the Sultan assenting to the appointment of Khusrin on any of the five occasions.

Faekah said the Mentri Besar hoped that the Chief Secretary to the Government and the Public Service Commission will cooperate to help find “the best solution” in the matter.
