Punish ‘maverick’ leaders, says Khalid Samad

PAS’s Khalid Samad today demanded Pakatan Rakyat (PR) take action against members who did not “toe the party line.”

Khalid, who did not mention any names, said this was in reference to the Subang Jaya Municipal Council’s (MPSJ) recent announcement that it would cancel the licences of businesses that both served alcohol and employed Muslims, in line with the state’s Syariah Enactment.

“There have been a lot of questions on this issue… what is important here is that a certain policy has to be discussed with all quarters, even if the ruling is only on Muslims.

“Only after a consensus, then you go ahead with a policy. Those who want to be mavericks, going ahead with announcements of laws without consensus, the party has to be firm with these people,” said the Shah Alam MP today.
