MCLM to announce two more candidates

Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) will be holding a press conference to announce the names of two people who have offered themselves as candidates for the next general elections. The announcement will be made at MCLM’s new office.

This will bring the number of candidates offered by MCLM to four.

On Dec 12, MCLM Chairman Raja Petra Kamarudin unveiled human rights lawyer Malik Imtiaz Sarwar as the movement’s first candidate during a live webcast from London at a forum organised by MCLM to explain the group and its mission.

The name of the second candidate, human rights lawyer Sreekant Pillai, was announced at the movement’s First KL Public Forum on Dec 21 last year.

The purpose of MCLM is to help political parties field better candidates by giving suggestions of viable persons who can serve and educate the public.

Details of the press conference are as follows:

Date:               January 25, 2011

Time:               10.00am

Venue:             17-1, Jalan 1/109E, Desa Business Centre, Taman Desa, 58100 Kuala Lumpur
