Wan Azizah is now Sabah PKR chief

The party headquarters has stepped in to resolve the leadership crisis in Sabah on the request of majority of local divisions.

(Free Malaysia Today) – PENAMPANG: PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has taken over as the Sabah interim chief, replacing Pajudin Nordin who had quit the party for Umno yesterday.

Announcing the decision after meeting with 19 division chiefs and two acting chiefs, she said a PKR Sabah Presidential Council has also been formed. The council, headed by her, basically replaces the existing Sabah PKR liaison committee.

“We hope that with the formation of the PKR Sabah Presidential Council it will assist the party to move forward and focus on the issues affecting the people of Sabah,” she said, adding that the idea was well received by the state leaders.

According to her, the presidential council will have all the division chiefs from Sabah as members and various committees resembling the portfolios in the state cabinet will be set up.

In addition, the council will also cover issues concerning Yayasan Sabah, security, health, education among others.

However, she stressed that the council was not a shadow cabinet for Sabah because if that was the case then PKR had to consider their Pakatan Rakyat partners, DAP and PAS.

Wan Azizah was speaking to newsmen after meeting the division chiefs at the party’s Sabah headquarters in Bundusan here on Sunday.

Good luck to Pajudin

She also addressed questions on former PKR Sabah chief Pajudin Nordin’s sudden resignation from the party yesterday.

Asked whether there was any regret and mistake in appointing Pajudin in the first place, Wan Azizah said: “I’m not surprised …We made our decision based on a report…We wish him all the best and good luck.”

She said the Sabah PKR leaders had shown their eagerness to move forward and concentrate on the coming general election.

Recently appointed state chief Pajudin, 42, quit the party yesterday, citing a loss of confidence in the party leadership.
