Sarawak’s CM has got inspiration, says Najib

(Bernama) – Sarawak’s chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is inspired as to when to hold the impending state election.

“He has got inspiration. He is inspired now,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak told reporters after chairing the Barisan Nasional (BN) supreme council meeting at Menara Dato Onn, here, tonight.

Najib, who is also BN chairman was responding to questions on whether the upcoming event to be held in Sarawak were signals that the state election is around the corner.

Earlier, the prime minister said Sarawak would hold its state BN Convention on March 5, adding that he and other BN top leaders were also scheduled to visit the state in the middle of next month.

“I have also been scheduled to visit Sarawak again in the middle of March, where we will go down in numbers together with the BN leaders during the visit,” he said.

He said other states were also making preparation to hold their respective state level BN convention soon.

On another question, Najib said he had in fact started his nationwide visits and such visits would be continued.

“I have gone to Sarawak twice, including visiting the Belaga and Sungai Asap areas. These can also be considered as going down on the ground.

“I have also gone to Kedah, this can also be considered as a visit,” he said.

Najib is also scheduled to visit Melaka on Feb 19.
