Minor reshuffle in Kedah Umno

(Bernama) The Kedah Umno leadership is being reshuffled following the appointment of Datuk Paduka Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir as the new chairman and deputy chairman respectively.

Confirming this, Ahmad Bashah said Mukhriz would give up the treasurer’s post when the executive committee meets on Saturday.

“I discussed the changes with Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak during his meeting with Umno division chairmen in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

“The President gave his views, I think all (Umno) division chiefs (in Kedah) understand what he wants…wait for me to make an official announcement this Saturday,” he told Bernama here today.

Bernama understands the infomation chief post held by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and that of Datuk Othman Aziz as executive secretary will not be affected.

However, Datuk Nawawi Ahmad (secretary) is expected to be appointed as the new treasurer to replace Mukhriz and his place filled by a new leader. Ahmad Bashah took over as Kedah Umno chairman from Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal. His and Mukhriz’s appointments took effect on Jan 1.
