More PKR leaders, members to join Kita, says Zaid

(Bernama) — Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, the founder and head of Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita), anticipates more Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leaders and members would quit PKR to join his party.

He said most of them, whom he refused to name, had expressed intentions to join Kita because they were confident with the direction and objectives underlined by the party.

Zaid said, despite being a newly-established party, Kita had received encouraging response, especially among PKR members who felt that they had struggled in vain after losing faith in the party’s leadership.

“I have yet to launch our massive road shows, but many have expressed interest. In Kedah, I have met with Kita leaders and I can see that most of them were former PKR members.

“This shows that Kita is being accepted. They want to be with me, and (want) Kita to make the political transformation in the country,” he said at a meeting with over 50 Kedah Kita leaders here Monday.

Zaid said, most of the people who wanted to join the party had clearly understood his mission to bring changes in the political arena.

“Kita does not aim to become a tiny or splinter party. This party wants to become the voice that makes the policy. We want to ensure that the voice, although not in power, can at least decide who is best to rule the country or a state,” he said.

Zaid said Kita would also spread its wings in Kedah by launching its office in Sungai Petani by month-end.

At the meeting, he named Zamil Ibrahim as Kedah Kita chairman.

“As Kedah Kita chairman, Zamil will be responsible for organising activities, promoting the party’s struggles and finding suitable candidates for the next general election,” he added.
