Kuala Lumpur: The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) has urged Malaysians to take to the streets in an Egypt-style uprising if the Sarawak elections are unfairly carried out.

“Take it to the streets if the Sarawak elections are rigged,” said its chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan in a statement.

BERSIH 2.0 have also called on the international community to send election observers to monitor the upcoming state polls.

The NGO also slammed the Sarawak state government’s decision to deny PKR MP R Sivarasa entry into the state, calling it a sign of rigged elections in the coming polls.

The Subang MP was deported upon his arrival in Kuching last Saturday.

Ambiga questioned why key opposition leaders were being denied entry while Barisan Nasional, the ruling coalition, could bring in ministers to campaign in the state.
